How to play Krillion
7 prompts a day, about 20 seconds each, the same for every player on Earth. Common answers float; rare answers sink. Play Krillion online free above — one dive a day, no second chances.
7 shared prompts
Everyone on the planet gets the same 7 prompts, in the same order, once a day.
~20 seconds each
Type one answer per prompt before the clock runs out. Blank answers score nothing.
Rarity is the score
Your answer is compared with every other player's. The fewer people who wrote it, the more points you take.
Points become depth
Every point sinks your diver 10 metres. Around 700 points is the trench floor — a near-perfect day.
Starting the daily dive
Pick Level 01 — Daily Dive above and press begin. Krillion hands you 7 prompts, one at a time, and every player in the world gets the exact same set that day. No difficulty settings, no categories to choose — the dive is the dive.
Answering a prompt
Each prompt is a short category — think "name a fruit" or "name something in a kitchen" — and you get roughly 20 seconds to type a single answer. The timer is generous enough to think, but not to research: what you know when the prompt appears is what you dive with. If the clock hits zero with nothing submitted, that prompt scores nothing.
How the score is calculated
After you answer, your word is compared against every other player's answer to the same prompt. The rarer your answer among all valid answers, the more points you take. An answer half the school wrote barely moves you; an answer almost nobody wrote sends you plunging. Invalid answers — words the game does not accept for the category — earn nothing at all, which is why clever-but-wrong is the most expensive move in the Krillion game.
One dive per day
The daily Krillion game allows 1 attempt, and that single attempt is the point: everyone plays the same prompts under the same pressure, so depths are comparable between friends. Want more reps? The unlimited mode and themed packs don't touch your daily result.
How deep is a good score in Krillion?
Krillion turns your score into an ocean descent. These are the real ocean layers — the same five zones oceanographers use, per NOAA's ocean-light research — matched to the points that reach them.
-
Sunlight zone
0–200 m0–20 points
Nearly all ocean light lives here. In Krillion terms: you gave the answers everyone gave. Safe, warm, and crowded.
-
Twilight zone
200–1,000 m20–100 points
Light fades and lanternfish outnumber every vertebrate on Earth. A few uncommon picks got you here.
-
Midnight zone
1,000–4,000 m100–400 points
No sunlight at all — anglerfish make their own. This is where genuinely rare answers start to pay off.
-
Abyssal zone
4,000–6,000 m400–600 points
Near-freezing water and crushing pressure. The Titanic rests shallower than this. Scores here are seriously good.
-
Hadal zone
6,000 m+600–700 points
Named after Hades. Only trench expeditions go this deep — a 700-point Krillion game means almost every answer was a rare one.
Strategy in Krillion Game: think past the first answer
Every Krillion prompt is a tiny auction: the answers everyone bids on are cheap, and the ones nobody bids on pay out. You can't control what the school thinks — but you can notice when you are thinking like the school. That skill can be trained.
Burn two seconds thinking sideways
Your first idea is the school's idea. Spend the opening seconds listing three or four valid answers in your head before you commit to one.
Specific beats general
When the prompt asks for an animal, 'axolotl' will usually out-dive 'dog' — as long as it clearly fits the prompt. Specificity is the cheapest rarity there is.
Stay inside the category
A rare answer that gets rejected scores nothing. Clever-but-wrong is the most expensive mistake in the game, so keep one foot on solid ground.
Commit before the clock panics you
With ~20 seconds per prompt, indecision is a silent killer. Pick your candidate by second ten and type it calmly — typos sink dives too.
The rarity ladder drill
Take any category and force yourself to produce five answers, from most obvious to most obscure. "Name a bird": pigeon → eagle → penguin → heron → cassowary. Your first rung is what the crowd plays. In a real dive you rarely have time for five rungs — but a practiced ladder-builder reaches rung three in five seconds, and rung three is usually deep enough.
When to take the safe answer
Rarity only pays if the answer is accepted. If the prompt is narrow and your rare candidate feels like a stretch, take the middle rung instead: a guaranteed handful of points beats a rejected zero. Save the long shots for broad categories where your obscure pick clearly fits.
Manage the clock, not just the answer
Indecision is the silent killer of deep Krillion runs. A simple rhythm fixes it: spend the first ten seconds building rungs, pick the deepest one you are sure of, and use the remaining seconds to type it cleanly. A typo on a brilliant answer scores exactly what a blank does.
Now put it into practice — the trainer below drills exactly this choice, free, as many times as you like.

Why themed packs are worth a dive
Packs are curated prompt sets built around a single topic. Because the category space is narrower, they reward domain depth: a film buff will find rare answers in the movies pack that would never surface in the general dive. Packs are also the gentlest way to introduce a new player — pick a topic they love and let rarity scoring sell itself.
Which mode first?
Play the daily Krillion game first, every day — it is the shared ritual and the score that counts. Switch to unlimited when you want volume, packs when you want a theme, and the Rarity Trainer above when you have two minutes before the real thing.

Krillion FAQ
What is Krillion?
Krillion is a free browser-based daily trivia game. Every player in the world gets the same seven prompts each day. You have about 20 seconds to type one answer per prompt, and the rarer your answer is among all players, the more points you score.
How does scoring work in Krillion?
Correct but uncommon answers earn more points than obvious ones. Each point drags your dive 10 metres deeper into the ocean, so a perfect run of rare answers can sink you roughly 7,000 metres to the trench floor.
When does a new Krillion dive start?
A new Krillion dive is published once a day, and everyone plays the same set of prompts. Our homepage shows a live countdown so you know roughly how long is left before the next dive opens.
How many times can I play per day?
The standard daily Krillion game allows one attempt per day, which is what makes comparing depths with friends fair. If one dive is not enough, the official Krillion site also offers themed packs and an unlimited mode.
Is there a Krillion unlimited mode?
Yes. Beyond the once-a-day dive, the official publisher runs an endless mode and themed prompt packs at Krillion.io.
What is a good Krillion score?
Every point in the Krillion game is 10 metres of depth. Passing 1,000 metres (100 points) puts you in the midnight zone, which is already a strong dive. Reaching the abyssal zone around 4,000 metres is excellent, and touching the trench floor near 7,000 metres is close to a perfect day.
How do I get better at Krillion?
Slow down for two seconds before answering. The first answer that pops into your head is usually the one everyone else thought of too. Scan the category for three or four valid options, then pick the most specific one you are still sure is correct. Our free Rarity Trainer on this page lets you practice that instinct before your next Krillion game.
Is PlayKrillion.com the official site?
No. PlayKrillion.com is an independently written guide with rules, strategy, and practice tools. The official game lives at Krillion.io — this site exists to help you learn the tricks faster, so you dive deeper when you play the official Krillion game.
